Lo studio \u00e8 stato condotto su <strong>307 uomini<\/strong> seguiti all\u2019interno della coorte Health Professional Follow-up Study che hanno fornito informazioni sulle loro abitudini alimentari e hanno compilato un questionario di aderenza alla Dieta Mediterranea. In particolare, \u00e8 stata riscontrata un\u2019abbondanza di microrganismi deputati alla metabolizzazione della fibra (<em>F. prausnitzii<\/em> e <em>B. cellulosilyticus<\/em>) e degli acidi grassi a catena corta e una riduzione dei microrganismi associati al consumo di carne rossa (<em>Ruminococcus torques, Collinsella aerofaciens, Clostridium<\/em>). Inoltre, \u00e8 stato riscontrato un minor rischio cardiovascolare nei partecipanti con un\u2019elevata aderenza alla Dieta Mediterranea e con una minor concentrazione di <em>Prevotella copri<\/em> a livello intestinale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sebbene il ruolo del microbiota intestinale nelle patologie cardiovascolari sia ancora da chiarire, questi risultati suggeriscono che la dieta, e in particolare la Dieta Mediterranea, sia in grado di modulare il rischio cardiovascolare anche attraverso un effetto sulla composizione del microbiota intestinale.
